Elżbieta Kurak
Psychologist, Psychodietician
At the Specialist Therapy Centre she runs culinary workshops and psychodietetic consultations.
During the workshops, patients have the opportunity to prepare various dishes on their own and taste them – this contributes to a sense of agency, creativity and also allows for relaxation and reduction of mental tension.
These classes are an important element of therapy for people suffering from eating disorders – they help in gradually acquiring readiness to overcome the fear of eating or, on the contrary, support training in controlling impulsive behaviours or compulsive eating.
During the workshops, patients have the opportunity to integrate various stimuli in a multi-sensory way, which is an excellent sensory integration training especially for people with ASD. In addition, all people can take a close look at their relationship with food.
As part of psychodietetic consultations, she works primarily with people suffering from eating disorders – she helps overcome the mechanisms and thoughts of illness; she provides emotional support, strengthens motivation and a sense of effectiveness.
She works based on a holistic approach to a person, where the influence of the psyche on the body and the body on the psyche is inextricably linked. She accompanies patients in a process focused on changing the way they think about food and themselves, focused on emotions, habits and consciousness.
She works with young people and adults in the field of nutritional psychology – she supports people whose nutritional problems are related to psychological difficulties – chronic stress, emotion regulation, lack or excess of control in eating behavior.
