Terapia Anorexia

 zaburzenie

Therapy treatment in a center – the only effective method.

Anorexia is not just an eating problem, but a complex eating disorder in which emotions, thoughts and behaviors play a key role.

When starting the fight against the disorder, patients or their parents often initially turn to general practitioners, dieticians or psychologists. As a result, this approach focuses only on individual aspects of the disorder – weight, diet or psychological issues, but does not target anorexia as a whole. Unfortunately, the lack of integrated therapeutic activities often leads to a situation in which the treatment only hides the symptoms, instead of effectively reaching the core of the problem and solving it in a comprehensive way.

Time has a great impact

Especially in cases where disturbing symptoms are observed, such as increasing weight loss despite eating the right amount of calories, or a very low BMI (below 15). In such situations, treatment that offers care and comprehensive support is not only recommended, but may in fact be necessary to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the therapy.

The sooner a patient starts comprehensive therapy, the greater the chance for a full, healthy recovery.

A comprehensive, therapeutic approach

Anorexia is a disorder that requires a holistic approach. Treatment is provided holistically, focusing on the patient’s physical, mental and emotional health. The therapy is conducted simultaneously by many specialists from various fields, including:

  • understanding individual causes of disorders,
  • working on body image, beliefs and emotions,
  • teaching healthy eating habits and self-care,
  • family education regarding the causes and symptoms of the disorder and new, healthy habits,
  • support for the patient and family after treatment at the Center.

12 reasons why it is worth starting anorexia therapy in the center

  1. Unfortunately, there is no pharmacological cure for anorexia. Treatment is the most effective documented method of overcoming the disease.
  2. Therapy in a center is cheaper than multiple visits to subsequent doctors, specialists or dietitians.
  3. It is also the fastest way to overcome the disease because it focuses on many aspects at the same time.
  4. Isolation from everyday reality means detachment from factors that cause symptoms of the disease and worsen the symptoms.
  5. Patients find understanding here – they are not judged or criticized. Specialists always approach patients with empathy.
  6. Our approach is based on the latest research and clinical practices, providing patients with the best possible care.
  7. Patients meet with peers and people with similar problems. Very often, relationships are established that last even after the treatment is completed.
  8. Each patient is treated individually, and the therapy is always adapted to the patient – depending on the phase of the disease, its duration, advancement and somatic changes in the body.
  9. The team consists of specialists who are passionate about their work, coming from different trends. They can boast many years of experience in working with patients.
  10. Despite this, they expand their knowledge with new treatment methods, which are adapted to changing realities.
  11. The patient undergoes up to 165 hours of various types of therapy during a month of stay.
  12. The therapy also includes educating the family about the causes and symptoms of the disease and new, healthy habits, which allows the effects of therapy completed at the center to be maintained in the home environment.

How does the treatment for anorexia at the Gedeon Center look like?

Applying the same therapeutic methods to all patients does not make them recover from the disease. At the Gedeon center, we get to know the patient individually, the history of their illness and their stay. On this basis, an individual treatment program is provided that combines various treatment methods. This makes effective action against anorexia on all fronts possible.

No patient is the same. This is also why no other therapy is the same.

Treatment includes psychotherapy, constant nursing care, functioning in the patient community, shared meals under the supervision of staff, and isolation from triggers causing the symptoms of the disease. The patient is provided with home-like conditions to increase their comfort on the road to health.

Nutritional therapy

In our center, patients are under the constant care of a psychodietitian and a clinical dietitian. An individually tailored diet, developed by our specialists, takes into account the patient’s somatic condition and the advancement of the disease. Nutritional education and eating meals together help to overcome false beliefs about food and develop healthy eating habits. Patients are also under the care of an internist, which ensures comprehensive medical care.

Free workshops with parents

During the patient’s stay at the center, Model Maudsley Workshops are held. They are directed to the patient’s family and provide support, helping patients and their families adapt to new habits and a healthier lifestyle. They focus on:

  • understanding the very essence of the disease,
  • communication skills with the patient,
  • reacting appropriately in various difficult situations related to the disease.
  • supporting your loved ones.

After completing therapy at the center, we continue our support, helping patients and their families adapt to new habits and a healthier lifestyle.
